Hi! I’m Kora, a songwriter and educator who believes that turning your story into a song can be transformative. I’ve led songwriting workshops across the U.S. and abroad, and I love helping people find their voice through music, whether in a group or one-on-one. I also write songs for people who want to tell their story through music but don’t want to be the one holding the pen.

I love working one-on-one with songwriters. Whether you’re looking for feedback on existing songs or want help getting started, I’m here to listen, collaborate, and figure it out with you. No judgment, no pressure. It’s a space to focus on your story and your songs.

These might be great for you if:
You’re actively writing and want support pushing your songs forward lyrically, structurally, melodically, emotionally, or vibewise.
You’re stuck and need a fresh set of ears on something in progress.
You have an experience, story, person, or place you want to write about but aren’t sure where or how to begin.
You’re just getting started with songwriting or you’re feeling stuck and could use some casual, low-stakes, low-rules guidance on how to keep going.
A session usually looks like this: you play me a song and share the lyrics in a Google Doc (sometimes just a refrain or a loose idea, sometimes a full draft). We ask each other questions. We go deep on what you want to evolve and how you might get there. We dive into one verse and why it’s not quite hitting the way you want, or maybe we add a verse. Maybe, I just give some prompts and you workshop them yourself later. Sometimes, I pull my guitar out and give an example of how I might get myself out of whatever rut you’re in.

I’ll give you a Calendly link so you can book when you’d like, or we can schedule recurring sessions.

I offer a sliding scale and ask that you pay what feels sustainable for you: $65–$120/hour.
Custom Songs
Personalized songwriting commissions
Got an anniversary, birthday, or wedding coming up and want a personalized, one-of-a-kind gift? Or maybe you’re just curious to hear your story interpreted through song. I’d love to make that happen for you.

We’ll connect via email and phone. You’ll tell your story, I’ll probably ask lots of questions.
I’ll come back to you in a few weeks or so with a song. I usually give you one round of feedback if there are little lyrical changes you’d like before I record it.
I record it for you and give you the audio, lyrics, and sometimes video.
(This process is different in every case and we can usually customize it to fit your needs)

A high quality recording of the song, the lyrics.
If requested and agreed upon prior to work, a video of me playing the song or a recording with more instruments on the song.

Depends on the project and time of year, but generally I’d give a couple months advance notice before you need the finished song.

Depends on your song/story/timeline, but generally around $1,000 for a custom song.

I retain full copyright ownership of the song. You’re welcome to share it in personal videos or other non-commercial contexts. If it’s ever recorded or used commercially, songwriting credit and licensing would be handled through me.
